Trimble Connect for HoloLens v3.2 Now Available

October 23, 2020 Jordan Lawver

Today marks 10 months since we began shipping the Trimble XR10 and the refreshed version of Trimble Connect for HoloLens (TCH). We are extremely grateful to our users who have come along on the journey thus far.

Since launch, we have received an enormous amount of feedback from our customers, both needed and appreciated. This has helped shape our subsequent releases as well as our long-term roadmap for what’s to come in TCH. We have worked diligently to respond to your feedback and, while there is still much to do, we are excited about the opportunity to continue to innovate and bring our customers the most advanced mixed reality capabilities out there. Thank you for giving us this opportunity!

We are very excited to announce that TCH version 3.2 is now available. This update is live and now available for download from the app store on your XR10 and HoloLens 2 devices. TCH version 3.2 comes with additional exciting new feature enhancements.

Marker Alignment enables users to embed digital markers in their model and then quickly and accurately align those models to site by scanning a printed QR code from their XR10.

Offline Mode enables users to cache their data on the XR10 device and disconnect from the internet for up to 30 days, enabling the use of mixed reality on more sites than ever before.

World Locking enables users to move about larger areas on their site without the need for realignment, improving model drift by 3x.

TCH version 3.2 contains only a snapshot of the new functionality we’ve added to TCH in the last year. To learn more, you can read through our full release notes here and/or peruse our library of walkthrough videos here.

Throughout 2020, we have continued to see the adoption of mixed reality grow in our industries. In conversation with our users, we’ve been excited to see the shift away from “evaluation”, “trial”, and “proof-of-concept” and towards widespread implementation of mixed reality as a core technology. While exciting, the pressure is also building for us to accelerate and deliver on our promise of rapid innovation and workflow integration to drive even more ROI for our users.

Going forward, we would like to double down our own investment in the AR/MR/VR product portfolio to ensure that we can continue to meet the demands of you, our user, in what has become an incredibly fast-paced and evolving technology field.

In making these changes, our commitment to our customers remains as solid as ever: we will continue to make our applications more capable, more workflow-integrated, and ultimately more valuable to you. Our goal is to release new functionality every quarter and, especially in 2021, to show the power of mixed reality when used as a deeply integrated complement to other site productivity workflows.

We are thrilled to continue this journey with you together. Looking back over the last 10 months, our conviction that mixed reality will transform the way the construction industry works has never been stronger. We have a full, aggressive, and exciting roadmap ahead of us. In both the near and short term, we look forward to executing on it in partnership with you, our users.
