It was estimated that for this project by doing this onsite, a time saving of at least 16 hours was achieved. This doesn't include the normal leading or loading times one would expect from other scanners
Join Lee Chandler for the next episode of ScanSite's journey with Trimble X7. Here Lee goes onsite in London, at the Brunel Street Works Energy Centre.

ESG are a leading UK M&E installer and manufacturer of offsite modular construction.
After completing the Brunel Street Works Energy Centre in Canning Town East London, they commissioned ScanSite to complete a full 3D scan of the Energy Centre and validate it against the MEP BIM construction model.

ScanSite services have become an integral part of the ESG Plc workflow:
The ability to geo-reference and validate models onsite with the X7 and Field Link is no longer an option, it is now a fundamental part of the process.
Geo-referencing
Control points were established via Field Link onsite using the T10 tablet, these were then relayed onsite with the X7’s built in laser pointer.

High sensitivity mode
The X7 has a great feature with High Sensitivity Mode. This allows us to scan highly reflective and metallic surfaces with minimal amount of data loss. Perfect for the recently installed energy centre.

Onsite Calibration & Registration
Once again having the confidence to know our equipment is fully calibrated every time, we complete a scan is priceless. We also know we have saved £3k per annum on servicing costs!
With this and onsite registration, we rest assured the data we collect is correct each time.

Model Validation
A key request from ESG was to document any significant variations between the point cloud and the MEP BIM model. Normally this would be undertaken as a separate exercise by ESG once the point cloud had been processed and issued, but we were able to actively do this onsite in real time as we scanned.

It was estimated that for this project by doing this onsite for this project, a time saving of at least 16 hours was achieved. This doesn't include the normal leading or loading times one would expect from other scanners.

Thank you to Lee Chandler, ScanSite and ESG
